Common name: Chameleon vine, orange flame vine.Family: Combretaceae (Combretum family). Overview Chameleon vine is a beautiful tropical twining vine with slender leaves; it can grow up to 20 feet tall, but can be pruned to a shrub. It has long showy red tubular flowers in 4 - 6 inch long clusters like a toothbrush, giving the vine a multi - colored appearance. The plant produces 4 winged red fruits. Hardiness: USDA zone 8 - 11. Propagation: seeds. Culture: full sun / dry soil. Chamelion vine tolerates temperatures as low as 20° F with little damage. It can be grown indoors in a container. |
